Director, The Center for Christian Worldview and Apologetics

B.A., North Greenville University; M.Div., The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; Ph.D. Candidate, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Professor Kerns was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, the birthplace of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, around roads named Boyce, Broadus, Williams, and Manly. He joined the Boyce College faculty in January 2007, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of Christian apologetics, world religions, and new religious movements. His area of expertise is centered in the discipline of new religious movements, especially The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a group whose theology and philosophy he deals with in his doctoral dissertation. Professor Kerns is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Evangelical Philosophical Society, and the Society for Mormon Philosophy and Theology. Professor Kerns is the founder of The Center for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at Boyce College, a center devoted to helping pastors and church leaders equip their local congregations to answer difficult apologetic, philosophical, and cultural questions. His desire is to lead young men and women to love evangelism and discipleship through the study and practice of apologetics.

He and his wife, Staci, have one son, Jeremiah. Professor Kerns is actively involved in the local athletic community as a member of the Team Louisville Bicycle Racing Team.
