Textbooks

The list of required textbooks for each online course will be posted at least two weeks before the beginning of the semester on the specific course website. The list will either be a separate document or part of the course syllabus. These will normally be found under the “Handouts” section on the course site unless otherwise indicated by the professor.

Each student is responsible for obtaining required textbooks from a book dealer of their choice. The on campus LifeWay bookstore may be reached at 1-502-897-4506.

Syllabus

Course syllabi will be posted on the specific course website before the beginning of the semester. They will be found under the “Handouts” section on the course site unless otherwise indicated by the professor. These may be downloaded by registered students.

Lecture CDs and DVDs

Most of our courses feature CDs/DVDs containing the professors’ lectures. The CDs/DVDs may also contain PowerPoint presentations, other video clips, and graphics. They are mailed to each registered student at the beginning of the semester and must be returned at the end of the semester. A Student User Agreement (SUA) must also be completed and returned to the Office of Distributed Learning/Boyce Online (HCC 200) stating no unauthorized duplication or sharing of the material took place.

Directions to use online course media can be viewed on the Southern Seminary website.

Online Components

Students registered for online courses access the course syllabus, assignments, quizzes, handouts, links, announcements, chat, discussion forums, the list of required textbooks, contact information for both course mates and professors, and other vital course information via a secure website. These websites are specifically designed for the online courses. Registered students will receive information instructing them how to access these secured course sites.

In addition, library resources, advisor support, technical support, virtual chapel resources, and other important program and seminary and Boyce information are accessed via the website you are currently browsing. You begin to explore many of these resources immediately.
