Youth Ministry Christian Service Approved Site Requirements
- The site must be of like faith and practice. It must affirm in writing, the CYM doctrinal statement.
- The church/site must be at least three (3) years old.
- The church/site must make application to Boyce College.
- The senior pastor must have served at the church/site for at least three (3) years and have a ministry tenure of no less than five (5) years.
- The church/site must have a full-time paid youth pastor.
- The youth pastor/site supervisor (SS) must have served as youth pastor in a full-time paid capacity at the church/site for at least three (3) years.
- The youth pastor/site supervisor must have been involved in full-time youth ministry for at least five (5) years.
- The youth pastor/site supervisor must have a Masters Degree or its equivalent.
- The youth pastor/site supervisor must understand, espouse and practice (in actual ministry) a similar philosophy of youth ministry as articulated at Boyce College. He/she should be familiar with and embrace the principles taught in the course YM 201.
- The church/site must have a youth ministry that ministers weekly to at least forty (40) documented middle and high school students on a regular basis and have that number participating in all ministry programs.
- The church/site must have at least two (2) adult volunteer laymen serving in the youth department for every Boyce youth major serving Christian Service.
- Where five (5) or more Boyce youth majors serve, the Christian service site is required to provide a full scholarship (room, board, tuition, books) and financial stipend to a youth ministry Christian service supervisor (CSS). The number of CSS is determined by the following guidelines:
1-4 Boyce youth majors – no CSS required. 5-11 Boyce youth majors – one (1) CSS required. 12-17 Boyce youth majors – two (2) CSS required. 18-22 Boyce youth majors – three (3) CSS required.
This full-time, youth major student must be agreed upon by the Site Supervisor (SS) and the Internship Coordinator (IC). He/she will meet minimally weekly with the IC and SS on matters relevant to the YM student progress and training. The CSS student is required to be enrolled in a youth course each semester he serves.
- The Christian Service site will agree to participate in the Boyce College Youth Emphasis Week:
- An approved site will encourage its members to consider attending Boyce College should the members sense a calling to ministry.
- The pastor of the approved Christian Service Site (Status C) agrees to meet quarterly with the Boyce Intern Coordinator. The Site Supervisor with 5 or more Boyce Youth Majors and the CSC agree to meet weekly with the Internship Coordinator. The Site Supervisor with 4 or less youth majors agrees to meet monthly with the CSC.
- Site approval is for a period of one (1) school year (August 15-May 15) that may be renewed. The signed agreement is due by June 1 of each year pending approval of CYM Committee. Though approved, the site agrees to withdraw from approval status should any of the agreed upon expectations become deficient during the approved period.
- There are four "Approved Site" status.
