- by Denny Burk – February 8, 2010
Dr. Chuck Lawless, Dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions and Evangelism, exhorts the students of Boyce College to do ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We think his teacher should be a Christian who teaches from a biblical worldview.
Boyce College is pleased to announce the launching of its new teacher education program, hereafter referred to as the TEP. Boyce has been approved to move ahead in the development of the TEP by the state Education Professional Standards Board of Kentucky.
Until fall of 2009 we will be in the process of meeting the state’s requirements for admitting students to the Boyce TEP. By next fall 2009 students may enter Boyce College and declare a teacher education major in either Elementary Education (P-5) or Music Education (P-12). Declaring a major in teacher education means that the student may take courses required in the General Education area of the teacher education curriculum contract, but it does not mean the student can take courses in the professional teacher education area. According to state standards for teacher education units of colleges and universities, all teacher education candidates must go through a process of being admitted to the TEP before taking professional teacher education courses. The requirements for being admitted to the Boyce TEP are outlined in detail in the Boyce catalog for 2009-2010.
We expect to receive the “Approval to Admit Students” to the Boyce TEP by sometime during the 2009-10 fall or spring academic semesters. Once the Boyce TEP is approved to admit students, graduates of the TEP may apply for certification in the area of their teacher education major, either Elementary Education or Music Education. With this certification the Boyce graduate is qualified to teach in either a public school or a private school.
Once that milestone is achieved, the Boyce Teacher Education unit will apply for Kentucky state accreditation, with the goal of being fully accredited by the academic year 2012-2013.
